Zonked

Zowie! Zoink! GadZooks! We've zoomed through the A-Z Challenge.

OK, I'm zonked. Zapped. Zoning out. (I did it with SEVEN blog sites this year. That took a bit of zig-zagging, but I'm done!)

It's time to catch some zzzz's.

Congratulations to all the zippy bloggers, who completed the April A to Z challenge. And

Ya THINK?

Yo! Seriously, it's a good think I don't do yoga.

You don't wanna see this.

Ya-huh. Wouldn't be prudent - or pretty.

  • My pigeon would be pathetic.
  • My lotus would be a loser.
  • My warrior would be wimpy.
  • My boat might not float.
  • My fish could flop.
  • My lunge would be lousy.
  • My half moon might reveal a bit more than that.
  • And the sight of my downward dog would hound you for days.

Yippee!

Monday

X-cuse me?

Umm, excuse me? What's with the eXtra interrogation here? You need to eXamine my ID for that?

Yikes!

EXactly!

Are you kidding? Or are you simply setting an eXample?

Lemme guess. No eXceptions.

Well, OK, then. Atta boy. Atta girl. I'll try not to be eXceedingly eXasperated, even though the eXercise  seems eXcruciatingly eXcessive.

Thanks for the eXtraordinary eXperience. And that's no eXaggeration.

Saturday

What's in a wheelhouse, anyway?

Sometimes, a popular wording may be weird. Occasionally, it seems outright idiotic. Here's a prime example.

Wave at us, if you've heard this one:

"That's right in your wheelhouse."

Or this one:

"It's not exactly in his wheelhouse, but he did a good job with it."

What!?! OK, we understand the intent of the phrase. But it's still awkward and weird. What's in a wheelhouse?

We know this phrase is supposed to evoke images of technological prowess and power. But it still makes us think of hamsters ... or even the dreaded rat race.

You can find this "wheelhouse" design on cups, totes, and other fun products at CafePress.

Friday

Vogue ... or vile?

Voila!  Is it a vision, a marvel, or a veritable vagary?

Maybe it's none of the above. Perhaps Mom is not as out-of-date as one might have thought.

Ya gotta wonder.

Wednesday

Terrorized by telemarketers

Ta-rrring!

I totally don't get it. I've installed those tricky spam-call-blockers on all our home phone jacks. But the telephone still rings in the evening, at least a few times each week.

It's totally telling, because no one else ever calls our land line.

OK, Mom does.

But everyone else who knows us automatically dials our cell phones first.

To boot, our cable provider has this handy tool, which puts caller ID names and numbers on the TV screen. And our phones have caller ID features too. So we are pretty clued-in when unidentified callers try to interrupt our family evenings at home.

Generally, we simply ignore these cold calls. Sometimes I feel sort of sorry for telemarketing employees. These folks have to dial countless numbers, only to be received with anything but enthusiasm.

But, occasionally, I have to fight the urge to pick up the phone and offer a comeback, like this one. Maybe I won't, but I heard someone say this. And it seemed sort of fitting.

Seriously, does anyone ever donate, enroll, purchase, or vote the way a random telemarketer suggests?

Tuesday

Stop! Cease and desist. I simply cannot stand it.

Somebody stop me. Maybe it's oversensitivity to insincerity, but this certainly sets my teeth on edge.

Anyone have a similar sentiment?
