C is for “Controlled
Chaos” - Oxymorons from A to Z
C’mon now.
Ever been in a houseful of toddlers … or teenagers? How about a live pop concert or a political convention? If you
have, then you know whereof we speak. That’s controlled chaos.
Picture the scene, and you know why it’s oxymoronic. Can chaos
be controlled? (Only Maxwell Smart knows for sure. No, wait!)
What’s an oxymoron?
Basically, an oxymoron is a
phrase that seems contradictory or incongruous. Taken literally, the words do
not make sense. Often, oxymorons find their way into popular usage, becoming
cultural catchwords or frequently used idioms.
Many of these curious wordings
strike us as delightfully amiss. Besides, what sort of whimsical word is
“oxymoron”?

ReplyDeleteGreat graphic. This is such a good theme!
ReplyDeleteI spend my life living in what I consider controlled chaos. I'm not sure I'd be happy living any other way.
