D is for “Doing
Nothing” - Oxymorons from A to Z
This one smacks of the “Hurry Up and Wait” syndrome. Are
you doing something, not doing anything, or doing nothing? Are you active or inactive? Busy or bored?
Better stop now. This is growing more oxymoronic by the moment.
What’s an oxymoron?
Basically, an oxymoron is a
phrase that seems contradictory or incongruous. Taken literally, the words do
not make sense. Often, oxymorons find their way into popular usage, becoming
cultural catchwords or frequently used idioms.
Many of these curious wordings
strike us as delightfully amiss. Besides, what sort of whimsical word is
“oxymoron”?

Never thought of 'doing nothing', one of my favourite pastimes, as an oxymoron, but it so absolutely is!
